Description of Services and Programs:
The Club provides a unique, holistic, wrap-around approach
to meet the varied needs of youth.
Branch Programs — The Branch Programs
are located at seven locations in low-income, high crime areas
of Fort Worth and present activities in the following five
core service areas. An example of activities follows each
services area.
Education
and Career Development (tutoring, literacy, computers,
job skills).
Character and Leadership Development programs (Keystone
and Torch Club {leadership clubs} diversity, community service).
Health and Life Skill programs (cooking, nutrition,
money management).
The
Arts (computer arts – web design and graphic design,
fine arts, cultural experiences). View our partnership with
the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History DesignIT
Studios.
Sports, Fitness and Recreation (sportsmanship, team
building and responsibility).
Career and Educational Services – The
Career and Educational Services help prepare youth for their
futures through graduation retention, post-secondary education
preparation, job skills training and job placement.
Educational Talent Search (ETS) serves over 1,200 low-income and potential first generation college students in grades 7-12 each year. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, ETS provides youth and their parents with free college, career, and financial aid information each year. ETS identifies and selects students who want to attend college beginning in the 7th grade and provides these students with the motivation and support to stay in school and enroll in a program of postsecondary education. ETS provides assistance with college application and financial aid applications; academic advisement services; career information; exposure to cultural events; visits to colleges and universities, and individual assistance to ensure college enrollment. Contact the Project Director for enrollment information: Raquel Guerrero,
817.923.1841.
Upward
Bound program prepares youth to enter college and see
them graduate with a four-year degree.
Career
Launch program targets gang affiliated youth and provides
much needed career guidance including financial support for occupational
skills training. Youth are prepared to enter the workforce
with not just skills training in the short term but also with
career counseling for long term success.
Comin’ Up Gang Intervention Program –
The Gang Intervention program operates at nine locations
throughout Fort Worth and partners with the Fort Worth Police
Department to curb gang violence and to assist potential and
current gang members in transforming their lives.
Gang Prevention Through Targeted Outreach Program – The goal of the Targeted Outreach Program is to give at-risk youth the skills necessary to avoid gangs
and delinquency now, as well as the tools to achieve success in the future.
Prevention Services – The Prevention
Services Program area operates drug, alcohol and tobacco prevention
programs, and comprehensive support services which provide
Club youth with everything from clothing to food to eyeglasses.
