Our History

A Rich History

Since 1926, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Fort Worth (BGCGFW) has remained focused on providing impactful services to children who need us the most.

What started as the Panther Boys Club more than 84 years ago (only the second established Club in Texas) has grown to six Clubs located across Fort Worth, each filled with children who want to make a marked difference in their lives. Panther Club was started by Fort Worth Rotary Club and remains open near its original location on Hemphill. It serves more than 200 children every day.

In 1935, Fort Worth Boys Club opened as a result of a group of women wanting to address the delinquency problem in the city’s north side. Two years later, the Club relocated to Ellis Avenue, where is still resides as the North Fort Worth Branch.

The two Clubs merged in 1990 and started BGCGFW. The organization is the 12th largest Boys & Girls Clubs of America affiliates—out of 4,300 plus across the nation.

BGCGFW impacts the lives of more than 10,000 at-risk youth every year, bringing inspiration, guidance and stability to children and families who need support the most.
